As a gin enthusiast I am always excited by new, unique products. I found Hendrick’s Gin, and particularly honed in on their Lunar Gin because of the concept. Hendrick’s recommends that this limited-release gin is best enjoyed at night as the botanicals used in the gin bloom at night. This struck me with an idea that I could challenge myself with- to create an advertisement that felt organic to the medium it was juxtaposed against.
Looking through Travel & Leisure’s past content, I thought of creating an ad showcasing Hendrick’s Gin. Hendrick’s marketing strategy encompasses the night, so stargazing and the night sky were the appropriate backdrop. The point was to highlight Hendrick's ability to amplify this experience. The hand drawn stars, logs, and other elements, as well as the font choice, were to make the aesthetic align more with the company’s.
I also created an instagram story highlighting their “Moonbathing Kit.” I wanted to make this more engaging, so I decided to display each item with a similar moonlight effect to the magazine ad.
