I view art and design as a puzzle of sorts. Which medium would be best served to create the contrast that is needed to make this piece feel real? What colors can I juxtapose to create the most perspective? Which mediums can I combine to make the viewer feel something they haven’t before?
These processes of problem solving are what fuel my love for design. Whether it is architecture, fashion, art, or our natural environment, I am constantly taking in the created and natural beauty of my surroundings. I will lose myself in a forest or crowded city street, staring at the natural and unnatural architectures, textures, colors, and more.
When I am choosing my subject, I particularly enjoy making the viewer feel the weight of an object. Precision is my affinity and it is displayed in my last three pieces. At the same time, I indulge in collecting vintage postcards and recreating the nostalgic feeling in my own work.
The mediums I consistently gravitate to are watercolor and pen, pastel pencils, and markers. However, I love testing the limits of art by integrating digital and physical mediums and techniques.
